KENT T. WOODWARD

JUNE 22, 1952 – JUNE 23, 2024


Kent Thompson Woodward, age 72, passed from his earthly body to his heavenly home on Sunday, June 23rd during a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loved ones.


Kent was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Heber Jay Woodward and Doris Margaret (Thompson) Woodward. Kent graduated from East High School where he was on the track team. He joined the U.S. Air Force and served as a jet engine mechanic at Hill Air Force Base for about 9 years. Following his service, Kent continued at Hill AFB in civilian work for several more years.


Kent met Cheryl May Pearson in 1980 at a church dance and they were married in July of 1982. He became a caring stepfather for Cheryl’s four children and father to their son Ryan, born in 1985. The family lived in Salt Lake County, then in California, returning to Utah in 2004.


Kent loved to rebuild cars, especially Volkswagens. He loved the mountains, birds, and nature. Kent loved talking about the miracles of Christ with his son. He was close to his stepchildren and their children. He loved spoiling his granddaughters.


Kent is preceded in death by his parents, sister Judy Roundy, sister-in-law Jeanine Rudd, stepdaughter Robyn Riley, and stepdaughter-in-law Rose Farrell. He is survived by his brother Bill Woodward (Sue), sister Wendy Banford (Gary), best friend Robert Martin, his loving wife Cheryl, son Ryan (Adriana), stepson David Garcia, stepdaughters Paula Garcia and Debra Johnson, 9 granddaughters and 4 grandsons.


Services will be held on Saturday, July 6th at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Whitewood building, 3555 West 5620 South, Taylorsville, UT.

Viewing: 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Funeral service: 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
