Obituary of Richard Deloy Black

Richard Deloy Black Richard Deloy Black, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away at his home in Salt Lake City on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on July 25, 1931, in Richfield, Utah, to Deloy and Grace Black, Richard grew up with a strong sense of family and community. He was preceded in death by his Parents Deloy and Grace Black, his wife Nona Black, his five siblings Janna, Jeanene, Robert, Beverly, and Betty, by his sons, Richard and Patrick Black, and his granddaughter Audrey Black. Richard married Nona Gamble Black, and together they had eight children. He is survived by his children: Kristine Walke Black (Richard Jr), Janna Eskelsen (Dan), Edward Black (Laura), Alan Black (Karen), Michael Black, Trisha Larsen (Sean), and John Black (Marcie). He was also a cherished grandfather and great-grandfather, leaving behind 20 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren who brought him much joy. Family was at the heart of Richard’s life. He found great happiness in attending birthday parties, family barbecues, and special gatherings, where he would spend time with his loved ones, especially his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Richard had a passion for photography, capturing moments that he held dear, and an appreciation for the outdoors. As well as his love for music, his knowledge regarding history, and his love of cars, especially his cherished 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, all of which he would gladly talk about with anyone who shared his enthusiasm. Throughout his life, Richard was a pillar of guidance and wisdom for his family. His steady presence, gentle advice, and caring heart made him a role model to all who knew him. His knowledge, his sense of humor, and his warmth will be deeply missed. Though Richard is no longer with us, his legacy of love, strength, and kindness will live on forever in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. Richard will be laid to rest at the City View Mortuary (1001 E 11th Ave, Salt Lake City, UT 84103). Details regarding a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
