Obituary of Kenneth Albert Mawhinnie

Please share a memory of Kenneth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kenneth Albert Mawhinnie, known affectionately as Ken by his friends and family, passed away on May 10, 2025, at the age of 76, in Herriman, Utah, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on December 3, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois, Ken's life was marked by his unwavering kindness, adventurous spirit, and dedication to his beloved family. Ken's passion for technology led him to a career in the computer industry. He also found great pride in his dedicated service in the Park City Volunteer Fire Department and his involvement with the Boy Scouts, which allowed him to touch many lives in a profound way. Ken's adventurous soul reveled in the great outdoors, often found camping or walking his beloved dogs. His passion for travel kept the wheels of his motorhome turning, always in search of new roads and the promise of "shortcuts" to undiscovered places and the occasional misadventure. Ken was also a man of simple pleasures; whether it was savoring home-made pizza, enjoying Dr Pepper, or watching Svengoolie to make a perfect Saturday night. He leaves behind a loving family: his wife of 54 years, Sandra; son Randall; daughter Kimberly; daughter-in-law Huang Wei; granddaughter Olivia; sister Marion Anderson; and brother Robert Mawhinnie. Ken was a man of many talents, a handy and kind adventurer who will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the joy and love he brought into our lives. To honor Kens love of his dogs, his pacemaker is being donated to help dogs in need. In accordance with his and his families wishes there will be no formal funeral services. His ashes will be spread in the places he loved the most.
