Harold Milton Smith was born December 5, 1951, and passed away July 9, 2025, after bravely battling life's struggles. While attending Orem High School, Harold met and fell in love with Sue Carter. They were married November 9, 1968. Harold was a devoted husband and was deeply committed to his family.

As a young boy, Harold's father took him camping at Boulder Mountain, instilling in him a love for nature and adventure. He later took his own boys camping, cherishing the time spent with them and continuing the love and legacy of the outdoors.

Harold held a successful career as a truck driver, known for his dedication and hard work. A true jack of all trades, Harold had a passion for woodworking and was remarkably talented in building and repairing just about anything. His friends affectionately nicknamed him "MacGyver" due to this unique ability. He built their family cabin in Salina, Utah, from the ground up, crafting everything from doors, hinges, cabinets and countertops, to sinks and light fixtures. Harold's talents extended to auto mechanics as well. Most notably, he transformed an AT&T service van from two-wheel drive to four-wheel drive. This cherished prize was showcased at a number of car shows.

Throughout their life together, Harold and Sue built four different homes in Lehi, Utah. In 2010, they moved from Lehi to Arizona to distance themselves from the cold weather.

Harold is survived by his wife, Sue Carter Smith, their five sons, Spencer (Trudi), Tyler (Lori), Greg (Stephanie), Skip (Michelle), and Layne (Jenny), along with 29 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren (with 3 more on the way). He is preceded in death by his parents, Ned Steven Smith and Beth Hutchings Smith, as well as his brother Steven Smith and sister Debbie Smith.

Harold often quoted John Wayne, sharing wisdom such as, “Courage is being scared to death but saddling up anyway,” and, “Life is tough, tougher when you're stupid.” Harold will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Harold was an organ donor and was able to save three lives.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to suicide prevention organizations to honor the struggles faced by loved ones and to foster hope for others.

A viewing and celebration of life for family and friends will be held on July 15th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the LDS Church building at 200 S. 200 W. in Lehi, Utah.
