Susan "Susie" Kershaw (Henrie) Obituary

Susan “Susie” Kershaw (Henrie)

July 18, 1954 – March 21, 2026

Susan “Susie” Kershaw, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 21, 2026, after a long battle with COPD and heart disease.

She was born July 18, 1954, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Marshall Leon Henrie and Barbara Thompson. She grew up in Bountiful, Utah, the second youngest of five children. She carried fond memories of her childhood, especially the mischief and laughter she shared with her younger brother, Jimmy.

In December 1976, Susie married James Boulton, and together they welcomed their daughter, Jaimie. Later, she married Doug Kershaw on August 14, 1983. Their marriage, like many, had its challenges, but Susie remained steadfast and loyal. She stayed committed to her vows and to her family, remaining by Doug’s side until his passing in August 2022. Together, they built a blended family of five children: Jaimie, Heather, Brett, and Doug’s daughters, Tammy and Tiffani.

Susie lived a life marked by resilience, strength, and a fiercely independent spirit. She was feisty in the best ways—quick-witted, strong-minded, and never afraid to stand her ground. That strength carried her through both joyful and difficult seasons of life.

She held various roles throughout her life, including working as an assistant to the Vice President of 7-Up and in real estate development. She later dedicated much of her life to being a homemaker, doing everything she could to provide for her family. She had a remarkable ability to stretch limited resources and make sure her children had what they needed.

She loved her children and grandchildren deeply and cared for them in the best way she knew how. Although her life was deeply affected by mental illness, her love remained constant and present. Over time, her illness caused strain and fracturing in many relationships, and she became increasingly isolated, distancing herself from friends and family.

Susie was known for her warmth, humor, and compassionate spirit. She was endlessly curious and loved learning about new topics that caught her interest. She found joy in crossword puzzles, reading, and Hallmark movies. She had a special love for animals, especially dogs, and would have gladly taken in every stray she encountered, much to Doug’s amusement.

Her empathy knew no bounds. Whether through financial help, sharing resources, or simply offering a listening ear, Susie gave whatever she could to those in need. Her generous heart left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

In 2018, Susie suffered a stroke that led to significant health challenges and required ongoing care. Her son Brett provided unwavering support and care during this time, a testament to the love within their family.

Susie is survived by her children, Jaimie, Heather (Quinn), and Brett; her grandchildren, Ella, Aizlinn, and Kaidan; and her siblings, Mark Henrie and Jim Henrie. She is preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Sherrie and Robyn; and her beloved husband, Doug.

Susie will be remembered for her strength, her feisty spirit, her deep loyalty, and the enduring love she carried for her family. Her life was not without hardship, but through it all, she remained resilient, devoted, and full of heart.
