Margaret Lundgren Hansen Obituary

Margaret Lundgren Hansen passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026, in Salt Lake City, Utah,

leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and deep devotion to family.

Born Ulla Margaretta in Ludvika, Sweden, to George and Lilly Lundgren, Margaret’s early life

was filled with adventure and close companionship with her siblings, who remained her lifelong

friends. In 1948, her family made the courageous journey across the ocean to America—an

experience she would recount with wonder for the rest of her life. Seeing the New York harbor

for the first time was a moment she never forgot. From there, all eight of them traveled together

by Cadillac to Utah, a story she told often and with joy. Though she held her Swedish heritage

close to her heart, she was deeply proud to call the United States her home.

After settling in Salt Lake City, Margaret met the love of her life, Robert Hansen, while working

at Shubach Jewelers. They eloped to Elko, Nevada in 1953, beginning a marriage built on love,

partnership, and family. Together they raised five children—Rick, Karen, Donna, David, and

Stacy—and created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering support.

Margaret had a gift for making people feel safe and cared for. Her grandchildren will always

remember being tucked into “Grandma’s blanket nests,” enjoying something delicious she had

made, or simply sitting with her, feeling completely loved. She found joy in the simple

things—camping trips, fishing, swimming, and, most of all, gathering her family together for any

reason at all.

She was a woman of many talents and passions. As a young girl, she danced in a Swedish folk

group, carrying her culture with pride. Later in life, she found joy in reading and traveling the

world, but her greatest creative expression was in her sewing. An accomplished seamstress

and passionate quilter, Margaret stitched love into every piece she made—gifts that will

continue to comfort her family for generations.

Margaret was a steady and shining presence—kind, strong, and deeply devoted. If she loved

you, you felt it without question. She endured profound hardships, including the loss of her

husband and children, yet she remained a source of strength and faith for those around her.

Though her absence will be deeply felt, her family finds comfort in knowing she has been

reunited with those she has long missed, and that her faith carried her peacefully into that

reunion.

Margaret is survived by her daughter Karen, granddaughters Nicole, Haylee, and Kassandra,

and her beloved great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on May 2, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the LDS Church house, 1450 South

350 West in Bountiful, Utah. A graveside dedication at Bountiful Cemetery and luncheon

provided by her ward will follow.
