Ronald Eugene Ellingson Obituary

We are sad to inform you that our beloved Ronald Eugene Ellingson quietly passed away at his home on July 9, 2026, with his beloved wife, Sherri, close by. He was just days shy of his 79th birthday.

Ronald was born to Alf and Renabelle Ellingson on 22 July 1947 in Williston, Williams County, North Dakota. They lived on a farm near Epping, North Dakota, where Ron went to school and attended the Lutheran Church. He was kind and friendly, with an abundance of friends and he was a good worker around the farm.

After he graduated from high school, Ron joined the U.S. Army and served honorably in the Vietnam War, an experience which profoundly shaped his perspective and guided his lifelong search for purpose, meaning and connection.

In 1990 Ron was staying with relatives in Bountiful, Utah when he met a lovely girl, Sherri Kay Erickson. He realized she was the one for him and moved to Utah. They explored the profound happiness of their love and were married in 1993. Three years later, the sweetest little girl was born and named Shelby, who was an angel just visiting Earth for a short while. Sherri and Ron were heartbroken by her quick departure, but their love helped them conquer the pain and they filled their time together with hard work and devotion to one another.

Ron tried his hand at a variety of woodworking jobs and settled on kitchen cabinetry. Sherri worked too, and they would come home after work and enjoy making meals together, playing cards, working jigsaw puzzles and raising a variety of animals. Special occasions were birthdays and holidays with relatives and an occasional trip to Wendover. There was always a little time left for fishing on the weekends.

Ron was preceded in death by, and is now reunited with Shelby; with his parents; with siblings Sherry, Gary, Richard and Russell (Rusty); his nephew, Eric Marchant; and with several precious pets.

He is survived by his wife, Sherri Ellingson; by his sister, Carol Marchant; and by 10 nieces and nephews around the country and numerous cousins
