Carolyn Dastrup Maxfield, age 86, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 25, 2026, at her home in West Jordan, Utah.

Carolyn was born on August 15, 1939, in Provo, Utah, to Lorentz Bernard Dastrup and Ruth Bench Dastrup. She was raised in Altamont, Utah, where she attended Altamont High School. During her school years, she was actively involved in the band, pep club, and student government.

In December 1961, Carolyn married her high school sweetheart, Larry Orvan Maxfield, beginning a loving partnership that would span many years. She attended Brigham Young University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics. Following graduation, she taught Home Economics at Rich High School in Randolph, Utah. She also worked at Christensen Department Store in Richfield, Utah, and later became a longtime employee of JoAnn Fabrics, where she shared her talents and love of sewing with many.

A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Carolyn served faithfully in many callings throughout her life. She was a Relief Society President, Young Women Camp Director, and pianist in Primary for many years. She especially treasured the time she and Larry spent serving together in the temple.

Carolyn had a lifelong passion for sewing and quilting. Through her gifted hands and generous heart, she created countless beautiful quilts for family and loved ones. These treasured creations will continue to provide comfort and serve as a lasting reminder of her love. She was also an active member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and greatly valued the friendships and heritage she shared through that organization.

Carolyn is survived by her children, Scott (Terie) Maxfield, Mark (Natalie) Maxfield, Jaci Webb (Sean), and Brian (Annissa) Maxfield; son-in-law Greg Newlon; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Janniece Leis, and her brother, Kent Dastrup.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Orvan Maxfield; her daughter, Rebecca Newlon; her parents, Lorentz Bernard Dastrup and Ruth Bench Dastrup; and her brother, Curtis Dastrup.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 30, 2026 at 10:00 am at the Jordan Oaks Stake Center, 8117 South Leslie Drive, West Jordan, Utah. Family and friends may gather Wednesday evening from 6-8:00 pm and Thursday morning at 9-9:45 am. Interment will be at the Altonah Cemetery at 3:00 pm.

Carolyn will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her dedication to family, her kindness, and the love she stitched into every quilt and every life she touched. Her legacy of service, devotion, and love will continue to bless her family for generations to come.
