Robert Earl Anthony, age 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Holladay Healthcare Center in Holladay, Utah.

Robert was born on April 17, 1939, in Fargo, North Dakota, to James Anthony Sr. and Mary (McCoskery) Anthony.

On May 1, 1956, Robert proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, where he honorably served his country for six years. Following his military service, he worked for many years as an Ironworker with Local 27 in Salt Lake City, Utah, alongside his three brothers, a career he took great pride in. When he wasn’t working, he could often be found on the golf course, enjoying one of his favorite pastimes. Robert shared a close and lasting bond with his siblings and their spouses—Shirley (Earl), Mary (Frank), Junior (Louise), Mark (Lynette), Tom (Diane), and Donald (Deanne). He was a loving and devoted brother who always offered his support, loyalty, and love to his family.

In 1969, Robert married the love of his life, Vesta LaRee Granger. Together, they built a life centered on faith and family and were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Throughout their marriage, Robert faithfully supported Vesta in her many business ventures, including Grandma’s Health Food Store, Players, PJ’s, and the Olympic Club.

Following Vesta’s passing in 2014, Robert found companionship and comfort with his dear friend and partner, Lang Firmage. Their time together brought him happiness, laughter, and steadfast companionship. With love and devotion, Lang cared for Robert throughout those years, offering compassionate care and helping him maintain the independence and dignity that meant so much to him.

Robert was an amazing father to his children: Robert Murray, Gay Lynn, Teri Lee, Vicki LaRee, and Pharon Shane. He was a cherished grandfather and great-grandfather who delighted in spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His love for his family was evident in the time he spent with them and the joy he found in watching them grow.

Robert will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. He left a lasting impact on countless lives through his strength, kindness, and generosity toward his family and friends. His legacy lives on in the memories he created, the example he set, and the love he shared so freely. Though our hearts are heavy with his passing, we find comfort in knowing his spirit will remain with us always.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA Hospital), Holladay Healthcare Center, and Symbii Hospice for the compassion, kindness, and exceptional care they provided to Robert.

Per Roberts request, he was cremated and a celebration will be held at a later date.
