Obituary of Emily Merz

On July 14th, 2023, Emily Merz unexpectedly passed away in her Eagle Mountain home at the age of 40. Born on June 28th, 1983, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Susan and Patrick Merz, Emily was the oldest of four daughters. As a lover of animals, she worked as a dog trainer at a local animal shelter in her early career, where she rescued and adopted several dogs throughout her life. She was a firm believer in community, later working in a home for adults with disabilities and donating to social causes whenever possible. She later became a fulltime mom to her four children, who she considered her greatest achievement. Emily found happiness in her spirituality and the soulfulness of life. She enjoyed music, singing, and loved going on long walks outside while spending time with her family. Emily is now reunited with her mother, whom she missed dearly and whose passing preceded hers in 2011. She is survived by her partner Chris Brown; her sons, Nathan and James; her daughters, Ellie and Caroline; her Father, Patrick and her sisters, Chelsea, Natalie, and Mallory. Services will be held at 11:00am on July 29th in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints' meeting house located at 7337 South Grizzly Way (5150 West)
