Obituary of Pearl Jewel Benzon
Better known as Dolly to family and friends, 89, passed away at home; she was born in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Dolly was the little old lady who walked through the neighborhood or worked in her yard. During her walks people would stop her and ask advice about their yard and when she was in her own yard people would stop and ask questions about her plants and admire her work. Dolly was organic before organic was popular and her yard was xeriscaped before anyone knew what xeriscaped meant. She loved nature and wanted her yard to reflect the natural world. Her neighbors described her as feisty, amazing, cheerful, easy going, always smiling, cute, caring, independent, hard working and most of all stubborn as a mule. Dolly will be missed by many and the neighborhood won't be the same without her.
The children would like to thank Dave & Cyndy Holz, Russell & Paula James, Jayne Knecht and Rose Swartz for all their love, support, food, and very appreciated friendship given to their Mom throughout the years. She enjoyed their visits and they made her last decade of life enjoyable.
Survived by sons Ray (Dot), Salt Lake City; Ted (Karen), Colorado Springs and daughter Cindy, Houston.
A private family gathering was held for neighbors and family on June 24 to celebrate her life.
