Obituary of Blair Dewayne Sorenson
Blair DeWayne Sorenson passed away in his sleep on June 22, 2017 in his room at Legacy House of Taylorsville. He was born December 2, 1927.
Kind, generous, and always ready with a joke, Blair elicited millions of smiles and laughs during his 89 years of life. His keen sense of comic timing charmed those he had known for years as well as people he met for the first time.
Blair was born in Eureka, Utah, where he discovered his love for the outdoors. He loved fishing, camping, and sitting by a campfire. Blair was great at golf, water skiing, tennis, and bowling and became a pro at all he did. He lived an active life, never sitting still for long, ever in search of something to fix, from cars to washing machines to plumbing. He also had a passion for knowledge and loved to read. He was always sharing a book or article he had read.
Blair was an accountant through most of his career and received his accounting degree from Stevens-Henager College in the 60s. He worked for Hercules in finance and for the Rio Grande Railroad. He and his wife Joan bought and managed a franchise in St. George, Utah, and finally settled in West Jordan to manage Villa West Mobile Home Park for the remainder of their careers.
Blair was born to Eudora Bird Whitehead and Shelton L. Sorenson. He survived his brothers Shell Sorenson and Rulon Sorenson and his first wife of 15 years, Dexta Bartholomew-Spencer.
Blair is survived by his wife Joan Robinson Sorenson; his children Debra Diane White (Ken), Susan Carrie Sorenson, and Steven Blair Sorenson (Shelly); his step-children Michael Peterson and Nancy Peterson (Mark); and his beautiful grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He and Joan most recently celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary.
We love and miss you, Dad. Thank you for so many years of joy.
