Obituary of Margaret D Hansen

Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Aug 24, 2017 Margaret Doxey Hansen finished the last page in this chapter of her life.  Many family and friends were waiting to greet her home, while others were left on earth to finish telling her story.
Margaret began her story June 13, 1932 in Portland, Oregon.  She was welcomed as the youngest child of Grace Judd and Floyd Samuel Doxey.  The family shared many happy moments exploring the beaches and beautiful country in Oregon.  When her father passed away, she moved with her mother and brother to Los Angeles.
Margaret grew up with a love of reading, learning and a vivacious personality that created friends wherever she went.  She loved dancing, reading and bowling.  Crocheting was a favorite past time, and she is famous for sharing her fabulous scrubbies with friends and service workers.
The chapters of her life were filled with intrigue, adventure and even tragedy.  Margaret married Darrel Hansen Dec. 20, 1954; they later divorced.  During their married years, Margaret and Darrel welcomed four children: Julie, Steve, Eric and Wayne.  Their marriage took them on world adventures, living in Spain, France and in various states.  Margaret loved Spain and the people that she met there.  One of her most difficult challenges was leaving behind her dear Rosa.
Being an educator and a scholar were a natural part of Margaret’s life.  She obtained several degrees, including her Master’s Degree from Weber State.  She was an Elementary Teacher and Librarian for over 38 years.  Many students passed through her doors and had the rewarding opportunity to learn at her feet.  Numerous Kaleidoscopes created by her classes sparkle and add color to the world.
Margaret was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  She served a church history mission in Salt Lake City, UT from 1999-2001. Her Teddy Bear sisters will forever be a part of her family.
Margaret was preceded in death by many beloved family members and friends, including her parents, her brother and two grandsons.  She is survived by her children: Julie (Ed) Taylor, Steve (Julianne), Eric (Kathy) and Wayne (Michelle) and a legacy of grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Everyone will remember the gift of reading and books that she shared for each holiday and occasion, and sometimes just because.
Graveside services for Margaret will be held September 30, 2017 at Ogden City Cemetery at 12:30 pm.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to the LDS Church Missionary Fund, to cancer research, or suicide prevention.  The family is wishing to continue Margaret’s story and would love to receive your favorite memories of Margaret to be included in a book of her life.  Please send memories to: 1042 E Fort Union Blvd #123 Midvale, Utah 84047
