Obituary of Sara Lynn Cowgill
Our beloved daughter and sister Sara Lynn Cowgill died on September 2, 2017 at the University of Utah hospital after suffering a catastrophic brain hemorrhage. She was only 52.
Sara was born on March 9, 1965 in Northridge California to Dale S. Cowgill and Mary Lou Randall Cowgill. She was a valley girl until her family moved to Ogden, Utah, when she was four years old. She attended Ogden City schools and graduated from Ogden High School. She was a scholarship student at the University of Utah where she earned a degree in English. During the summers while she was in college, she worked various jobs in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. She and her friends had so much fun that the money for college was almost incidental. She was currently working for Boral in South Jordan as a Marketing and Communication specialist. Sara was deeply kind, smart, hilarious, and loyal to a fault. She was a loving and devoted mother to her many fur babies, a dedicated employee, a defender of the Oxford comma, and the thread that held our family together. We are utterly bereft.
Her father preceded her in death. She is survived by her mother, Mary Lou Cowgill Christensen of Holladay, sisters Laura Brown (Paul) of Ogden, Ida Kearney (Brian) of Kirkland, Washington, Anna Barton (Richard) of Lindon, niece and nephew Josslyn and James Barton, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Celebration of Sara's Life will be held at her home, 1832 South 500 East in Salt Lake City on Saturday, September 23rd, 2017 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Friends and neighbors are invited to join the celebration. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Utah or the Best Friends Animal Society of Utah.
