Obituary of Derek Todd Fletcher
Derek Todd Fletcher, age 35, of Taylorsville, Utah left us on Monday, June 18, 2018 for a huge CD sale in the sky. He fought valiantly to be here as long as possible after a car accident paralyzed him in 2006 but his lungs just gave out from a respiratory bug he couldn’t beat. Derek was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on July 12, 1982 to Wayne Fletcher and Leeta Wolfblack-Fletcher. He was baptized into faith March 5, 1992 and confirmed on April 22, 1997. He attended Taylorsville High School graduating with his class in 2000 and later attended San Francisco City College and Salt Lake Community College. He was an enrolled member of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe and was very proud of his heritage.
Derek was an avid CD collector of Rap music. He especially sought out and collected music from the old style San Francisco Bay area. He traveled in state and out of state buying CD’s and was always looking for that one great find. Derek built a lucrative business selling his CD’s online. It gave him great pleasure to buy, sell, trade CD’s and there wasn’t a CD shop he didn’t know and a shop that didn’t know him. Derek was a kind and generous person who was witty, smart and soft hearted. He will be forever remembered by all who knew him, he was a one of a kind jewel in the rough.
Surviving him is his son, Shawn, his parents, sister Mandy, younger brother Anthony, a nephew Derek Carroll, a niece Allyson Carroll and an ex-brother in law Mark Carroll of Big Stone Gap, Virginia. He also leaves behind grandparents Peggy and Ted Fletcher of Otter Creek, Montana, special aunt Dixie Young of Ashland, Montana and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and loving friend Joy Adams.
