Obituary of Dorothy Ann Novak Budzenski

Dorothy Ann Novak Budzenski (Bobbie), 97, of West Valley City, Utah died November 4, 2019 at her home after living a long and active life.

She was born November 26, 1921 in Antigo Wisconsin, daughter of the late Peter Joseph Novak and Mary Zemonick. She grew up I Antigo graduating from Antigo High School. She married Frank Daniel (Bud) Budzenski on January 3, 1942 in St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Antigo, Wisconsin. She travelled and lived in London and Paris due to her husbands military service in World War 2. They returned to Wisconsin and made their home in Antigo and later moved to Deerbrook, Wisconsin. When her husband died at the age of 65, she moved to Salt Lake City, Utah to be near her son, Barry Budzenski.

She was a devoted member oft eh Catholic Church. She served many years with a Catholic organization of women in Antigo. They would go into the homes of people to assist them in whatever they needed. She also volunteered at the Antigo Community Care Center and was involved with many of their activity programs.

In the early years of marriage, and no care, she and her husband loved riding a motorcycle everywhere they went. They were active square dancers and even danced by the Eiffel Tower in Paris. She also loved to go cross country skiing near her home. She loved to read and kept up on current affairs around the world. Her mind stayed clear and active until she died. She always kept in touch with family and dear friends by calling or writing. She loved her sons, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and was always involved in their lives. She thought of others first before herself.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, George Novak of Green Bay, Wisconsin; a grandson, Jared Budzenski and a cousin, Ted Krakovec of Minnesota.

Survivors include two sons, Barry (Debbie) Budzenski of West Jordan, Utah and Bryan Budzenski of West Virginia; three grandchildren, Maranda (Rich) Hawkes of Salt Lake City, Ian Budzenski (Jamie) of Salt Lake City, and Daniel (Brenda) Budzenski of California; two great grandchildren, Penelope and Matilda Hawkes. Also included are cousins LaVerne Wertel of Illinois, and Jimmie (Emily) Novak of Wisconsin.

A funeral mass will be held for this great lady, officiated by Father Jan Bednarz of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, Taylorsville, Utah on Friday, November 8, 2019 at 7 pm. Church address is 4914 South 2200 West, Taylorsville, Utah. Interment will be in the Queen of Peace Cemetery by the side of her beloved husband in Antigo, Wisconsin.
