Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Our brother, father, uncle and cousin John William Mathews passed away peacefully at his home October 11, 2016. He was born on January 17, 1946, the oldest of six children of Donald J. and Mary O. Mathews. Raised in Kearns, Utah and graduated from Granger High Class of 1965. He honorably served in the United States Air Force in hospital administration. John married Gertrice "Kay" Damascus, later divorced. He led a life of service through helping people that needed his care. He was a C.N.A and after retiring he was a courier for patients to and from appointments. He will be dearly missed at Majestic Meadows for being their go to man. He served with a contagiously pleasant attitude. John loved golf and was a huge fan of all sports teams from Pittsburgh. John married his soul mate, Carolynn Marie, and enjoyed a short time together before her passing. He is preceded in death by Carolynn Marie, Carolyn Nadine, parents and brother Craig. He survived by brothers Don Alton (Linda), Duane W. (Ana), Greg (Melanie) and sister Mary Jane (Eric), many sons, daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There will be a Celebration of Life Friday, October 14 2016 4 p.m. at Majestic Meadows Mobile Home Park clubhouse. 4580 S. 1055 W. Taylorsville Utah 84123. Special thanks to Carlos and Gail at Majestic Meadows and Life Church for their prayers and support. Cremation provided by IPS Crematory and Mortuary.
