Donna,
Tom was a good friend to me when we worked together in the office of the Georgia-South Carolina mission these 50 years ago. My associations with him were sweet and uplifting. When I reflect on our time in the mission office together I remember his kindness with appreciation and warmth. My wife and I were very grateful to him when we made some purchases at R. C. Willey with his help. I also am grateful to you both for the help you gave with the mission reunion we worked on so closely together. Please know of our best wishes and sadness for your loss.

Tom is a friend that I have always admired. He and I spend may hours together working the sales floor at RC Willey at the Murray Location… it is no more. We talked about customers, about RC Willey politics with its management style, about the other sales associates and the management we worked with, about our families, about our LDS mission experiences, about finances, about our love of the Gospel, the world problems, about our wives and about Tom’s and his family’s health issues. I was working at RC Willey on the sales floor when Tom came on so I guess you could say I have worked with him for 35 years. I know he loves the furniture business as he is a skilled decorator. I know he decorated home shows and would go out to customers’ homes to assist them in decorating. He was successful at RC Willey. I know he loved his boys and wife Donna because he talked about them a lot. I know he has a testimony of the Gospel because he told me. I remember him telling me how he taught a Catholic Nun the gospel while on his mission. I know he was generous charitable person. I saw him help friends financially. I saw him send flowers to those grieving when others did not consider doing so. He had integrity on the sales floor which can be a challenge when one works only on commission. From those many hours we spent together. I can tell you Tom is a person of courage that carried his burdens with a positive attitude that I looked up to. I often told Tom that if he can show up and work the sales floor then I have no excuse for not doing the same. My burdens are lighter that yours. You are my example Tom. I’m hoping we can meet again so we can swap stories once more. picture taken 2007

The Coe family has a special place in our hearts for Tom and Donna and the boys. Our boys were the same age as theirs and so friendships began early with the Armstrongs. We loved their boys and they all spent a good deal of time together. Tom was one who always asked how you were doing when you met...then he would always ask how our children were doing as well. I loved his smile and his love of life. He was always right there to help us make a decision when we met him at RC Willey's for a new purchase. He would lead us and quide us to pick just the right thing, never pushy just kind and reassuring. His attention to detail and decorating was so amazing, he truly had a gift. During the last couple of years it has been hard to see this bright, happy, talented man face the medical challenges he has fought. HIs beautiful spirit kept fighting but his body had definitely started a decline. It was an honor to be part of his medical care through the Home Health and Hospice company I work for. Those who had the privilege of caring for Tom felt his love and his sweet spirit we had experienced for years during our friendship. At this time, we want to send our deepest sympathy and prayers to your family and want you to know of our love for all of you.
Sincerely, Mike and Shauna Coe

I’m so sorry to hear of Tom’s passing. We worked together for a very long time and I can truly say that I loved Tom. We were dear friends and we stayed close through thick and thin. His suffering was great and he was so stoic through all his adversity. I have so much respect for him. My best to his dear family. He loved you all so much.

I adored Tom Armstrong, he was my friend and a mentor. We went on many trips with Tom and his wife through our beloved RCWILLEY. Tom has been missed since he left. His creativity was so beautiful. What a precious man, our Tom. I know that Tom was received into the arms of his Heavenly Father, and his own son , whose death broke is heart. I love the way Tom loved all animals, he loved their innocence, and they loved him. The world has lost a precious soul, but God has gained a warrior for Tom loved the gospel and always fought for those who needed help. The man was generous beyond belief. If you looked down, there was a vase of flowers there for you. Always a card, a smile, and a hug. I pray for this beautiful strong family, they will miss their lovely father, son grandfather and yes husband. Tom was my friend, I loved him like a brother. I will miss him, I mourn with all of you. Thank you for being in my life!
