Leela Beaudry passed away peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones on February 20,
2022. Leela was born September 18, 1942, to Etta Lou and Chester Call. Leela graduated from
Judge Memorial Catholic High School.
Adventurous and inquisitive from an early age she traveled extensively and lived in many U.S
cities and several foreign countries during her 20's and 30's including Greece, Spain and India.
Always a seeker and naturally spiritual, Leela gravitated to Siddha Yoga and was chosen to study
at the Ashram in India. She helped set up ashrams in South Fallsburg New York and lived there
for a time.
Upon her permanent return to Salt Lake City, Leela was a leader of the Salt Lake devotee
community.
Her professional career centered around Utah State Government, enjoying the challenges of
being a contributing part of the Division of Indian Affairs staff, the Governor's Office of
Economic Development and the Utah Travel Council.
Leela has always been an environmentalist and lover and protector of all things in nature. Her
gardens were a work of love and art where every rock and plant had a special story and place.
She is survived by her brother, Jeff and his wife Shawna, niece Jamie Beaudry, Jamie's daughter
Randi, nephew Zach Beaudry, his wife Kelley and their children Ben and Katy.
Special blessings to her good friends Dr. Tom Weed and Adrien McCleery who were tireless in
their efforts to make Leela comfortable in the last month of her life. Gratitude to Brooke D. Paulsen, DNP who supported Leela in following her own health journey. Many members of the
Salt Lake City Siddha Yoga community have also provided invaluable love and support.
A celebration of life will be held in Leela's honor on Friday, March 4th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at
