12/12/1961 - 05/03/2023 In loving memory of Michael “MIGUELLL” Benavidez. It is with a heavy heart we announce on Wednesday, May 3rd, 2023, at 12:05 AM Michael Benavidez has been called home to join our Heavenly Father. He passed peacefully in his home with his family. Born to Vianes Benavidez and Lola Benavidez. Our hearts are completely devastated at the loss of the most handsome, compassionate, and irreplaceable man. Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing, drinking, helping fix multiple cars he didn’t break (a.k.a all of his girls), and spending quality time with family and friends. Words can’t begin to describe his ageless and playful personality. He was a go-getter and highly believed that if you obtained something you must continue to use discipline to maintain it. Michael was the epitome of a hard worker. He spent the majority of his days making everyone around him laugh, reminiscing about the “good ol’ days,” and speaking life into others. This was a man who was able to light up rooms he wasn’t even in, a walking love letter to our earth. Michael is survived by: Shelly Benavidez (Wife), His 3 Daughters Jenifer, Lulu, and Mica. His two son-in-laws Moses Vigil and Brian Thatcher-Burgo. Gayle Benavidez (Brother) and Cora Patino Benavidez (Sister.) He also helped raise Fine “Pito” Otuafi, Jessica Lopez, and My “Ling” Le. There are multiple people who considered him a father figure. 9 Grandchildren: Vianez, Kiana, Zaiah, Daiziah, Junior L , Jessie G, Jose (Emily), Seryna, Seryniti, as well as many Nieces and Nephews who considered him their Grandpa. Preceded in death by Vianes Benavidez (Father), Lola Benavidez (Mother), Charles Benavidez (Brother), Angelo Benavidez (Son) , Andy Madrid (Son-in-law), Tobias Benavidez (Nephew), Jose “Lanco” Giron (Grampo), Dulce Nella Giron (Grandma), Jose Tomas Quintana (Father-in-law), and Vivian Vasquez (Sister-in-law.) Acknowledgement(s): Thank you to Dr. Puri and her team at the Huntsman Cancer Institute for all their hard work. A special thanks to Julie and her team at Huntsman’s Hospice for their unconditional support throughout this entire process. Our family wouldn’t have been able to do this without the help from both of you. We appreciate you more than you’ll ever know. We would like to thank Samantha Otuafi, Victor Lopez, and Danielle Lucero-Lopez for continually being there not only for Mike but for the entire family. Words cannot express our gratitude and love. Lastly, thank you to all of our family and friends for stopping by and checking in on us. To everyone who knew Mike they understood he was extremely family oriented. We know he would’ve loved to thank you all personally for being there for us during this most difficult time. We love you. Until our next Friday.
