Obituary of William F.R. 'Ray' Park
Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
William F.R. 'Ray' Park (Boone) passed away September 3, 2023
He was born in 1924 in Millcreek, Utah to William D.D, and Zola Hicken Park
Dad served in WWII in England with the 453rd Bomb Group stationed at the Old Buckenham airfield. He specialized in repairing aircraft damaged in battle, and he earned 6 Bronze stars for his effort. After the war, dad returned home and continued his service with the newly formed Utah Air National Guard. This is where he met the love of his life, Paula. Together they raised three kids, Christine, Claudia and Craig.
Dad was preceded in death by his wife Paula, and his daughter Claudia. He is survived by his daughter Christine and son Craig (Stefanie), grand kids Jennifer, Jamie, Jade, Paul, Collin, Allison and Rielly, as well as many great grandchildren.
Dad was an amazing man. As he approached retirement, he decided to build a house for mom. He started construction working weekends and evenings. His good friend Phil Dellinger donated an incredible amount of time and effort to the cause. Dad wasn't a plumber or an electrician, but he taught himself the skills necessary to do the job right the first time. He subcontracted some of the work, but did the majority of it himself. Four years of evenings and weekends made the house ready to move in in 1976 where he and mom spent 16 great years together. Mom Died in 1991 and dad was able to live in the house up until two years ago when he finally acquiesced to getting some assistance.
Sub Okumura was also a very special friend to dad. Sub was always there for him offering help, assistance and friendship whenever it was needed. Thanks to Sub's coaching, dad was an avid bowler. He also excelled in golf and billiards and was a truly remarkable (you guessed it, self taught) stained glass artist.
One of dad's favorite sayings when somebody would do a good job, or even attempt to do a good job, was, 'Atta Boy'.
Craig was the recipient of many of his 'Atta Boys' even when he didn't deserve it.
Dad was adamant that he didn't want a funeral. He wanted to be cremated and 'be done with it'!
So, we'll respect his wishes.
If you knew him, think fondly of the memories and he will live with each of you who do.
Atta Boy Dad! You lived a great life. We sure love you!
Special thanks to all the care givers at Sunrise Assisted Living in Sandy and Inspiration Home Health. Thanks for taking such good care of dad.
