Obituary of Ashley Renae Cameron

Please share a memory of Ashley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
With heavy hearts and much sadness, we announce the passing of Ashley Renae Cameron. She was born January 20, 1982, joining her “Mama and Papasahn”, two sisters and three brothers, who loved “Ashy Nae”, “Baby Girl”, “the Boss”. Ashley came into the world with attitude, and it continued throughout her short life. Ash wanted to experience everything she could. At 16 years old, she didn’t ask her parents if she could go to the Woodstock 1999 Event, she TOLD them she was going (YIKES). She made the plans and then made it happen, traveling with good friends. When it came down to it, she had to promise as she was leaving to check in daily, so her parents knew she was safe. Cell phones were not the norm then, so it cannot be confirmed or denied if that actually happened. It was an adventure she would remember forever. She wanted to change the world, so she fulfilled her dream to become a teacher. She proudly attended Dixie State College of Utah for an Associate’s Degree in Elementary Education. She then attended Westminster College, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science, and then a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education. But her learning didn’t end there, as she found her passion for Science. She earned endorsements in Social Studies & History Composite, Biological Sciences, and Middle Level Science, with plans to continue further Science endorsements this summer. How better could she change the world, than to teach young people about the wonders of the world. She taught at Hillside Junior High in Salt Lake District for 1.5 years, Hillcrest Junior High in Murray District for 8 years, Horizonte High School in Salt Lake District for 1.5 years, and Kennedy Junior High in Granite District for 1 year. We know there are innumerable students who learned about the wonders of the world and also found a safe haven in Ms. Cameron’s classroom. Ashley’s adventures didn’t end at Woodstock or in the classroom, she wanted to experience more. Ash traveled far and often, but her love was Mexico. She traveled there for her Master’s program and returned whenever she could. You would see pictures of Ash on the beach, at a pool, anywhere there was water and sunshine, that is right where she wanted to be. Ash was the “fun” aunt! Always the teacher, even when “playing” with the nieces and nephews, she would often use Science to teach and entertain them. EVERYONE wanted to stay at Aunt “Ashy’s” house to see what adventure was next. In true Ashley fashion, her love of Mexico continued with her canine companions, conversations, and house decorations which were filled with chihuahua dogs. Her “sweet boy” Queso left her 3 years ago, which truly broke her heart. She also loved her other little boys: Vino, Churro, and then Mijo, who was with her to the end. Ash was truly a “dog whisperer.” Ashley was married and then divorced from Kjarsten Christensen and Franco Aloia, who both continued to be her friend. Thank you both for being part of our family. Also, thank you to Ash’s many, many friends, we are grateful to each of you for loving her. After a life of adventure and pain, Ashley unexpectedly left this life on June 2, 2024. She leaves behind a multitude of family and friends. We are all going to miss her dearly. She is survived by her parents, Gregg and Becky Cameron, her siblings: Jessica and Kurt Russell, Shea and Lori Cameron, Collin and Carlee (Hoover) Cameron, Shiloh and Jeff Brown, Tyler and Brittany Cameron. She loved her many nieces and nephews: Wyatt, Kayrie, and (Olivia-deceased) Russell, Kaeli, Abbi, and Jacob Cameron, Paetyn and Turner Cameron, Tyson, great-nephew Hudson, and Kamryn Brown, Paisley, Maddox, Finlee, and (Mack-deceased) Cameron, along with Grandmother Erma Cameron and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Those waiting on the other side are grandparents, James and Adrienne Gates, John Cameron, Uncle David Cameron, Uncle Jim Gates, and nephew Mack Stone Cameron. We know Ash will take good care of Mack until his parents can take over. Ashley’s wishes were to have her remains taken to Mexico and to have a Celebration of Life, which will take place at a later time. You never know when our time on earth will end. Please hug someone tight and tell them you love them, eat gummy bears, Milk Duds, and toast to Ash with Diet A&W Root beer. Do it TODAY! If you want to remember Ashley in a way that she would LOVE, please donate to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. Te amamos, hasta que nos volvamos a encontrar!
