Kelly was a respected colleague, and also a mentor to me. She was a valued member of the 'core' homicide group in the early 2000's. When I learned of her passing, I felt incredible guilt for not having been there during the tougher times. I get it, life and career moves us around... but it's breaking bread with friends and family that really matters. She's done doing God's work, and I hope her family knows how much she was loved.

It was always an honor and privilege to work with Kelly. I learned a lot from her and always appreciated her experience insight on the cases I got her help her with. She knew how to earn people's trust and they would tell her things that they refused to tell anyone else. She was a valuable part of the SLCPD family and she is missed. Kelly was a person of conviction and service under very difficult circumstances and who’s compassion was second to none. Many families benefited by Kelly’s service and so did the police department. I am sure Kelly rests with friends and family gone before in peace, free from pain. Well done Kelly, well done. Rest In Peace. Mark Scharman.
